Passionate about community involvement, Julian served on the board of directors for the well-respected community organization, OutSport Toronto, and was the director for community outreach. OutSport Toronto is known for promoting the participation of sport activities within the LGBT community, in addition to advocating against LGBT discrimination within sport. A community advocate, Julian led the annual Sportzone initiative at Pride Toronto, and participated in an influential presentation for the Toronto District School Board “Futures Conference” on homophobia in athletics. Julian is also a long-time active volunteer and member of the CIBC Pride Network and community fundraiser for LGBT and AIDS service charities.
In addition to his professional and community pursuits, Julian is also an active football and basketball official for youth leagues. As an involved supporter of amateur sport for over a decade, Julian believes that youth sports help develop strong leadership skills and is an advocate for youth of all demographics having the opportunity to participate in sport. As an avid fan of Canadian football, Julian has also worked with the Canadian Football League (CFL) in a leadership role, managing a stadium crew in the interpretation and collection of statistical data.
Julian has maintained a strong academic record, with a specialization in business administration and finance. Julian received his Honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, graduate certificate in Information Systems and Business Analysis from George Brown College, and is pursuing the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Julian is also recognized as a Chartered Insurance Professional by the Insurance Institute of Canada.
